DORSET Combination League officials have voted to change the name of the competition to the Dorset Premier Football League.

The decision was taken at the league's 45th Annual General Meeting held in Sturminster Newton.

The management committee have also agreed a one-year sponsorship deal with Poole-based sports firm, Elite Teamwear.

Press officer Trevor Schorah said: "The Combination League is the premier competition in the county and members felt it appropriate to change the name to reflect this fact. The full title will be the Elite Teamwear Dorset Premier League."

Stan Wallis was elected president of the league after stalwart Edgar Maidment stood down.
