WATFORD Football Club has appointed Dorset-based Denley King to co-ordinate the building of a new £7.5 million stand at Vicarage Road.

A team of consultants has been assembled by Denley King Project Management to design and administer the construction of the new East Stand.

The new stand will include 4,300 new seats, hospitality boxes, press and conference rooms plus players' fitness and changing room facilities.

It will also feature a souvenir shop, club museum, directors' offices and boardroom.

"A planning application has been currently submitted and it is hoped that works will commence on site at the end of the current football season," said a spokesman for the Commercial Road firm.

It is the latest in a series of major sports projects for Denley King. They include the new £20 million Cricket Academy and Golf Course for Hampshire County Cricket Club at Southampton.

Denley King also worked on the new National Water Sports Headquarters at Weymouth, sponsored by Weymouth and Portland Sailing Academy, the RDA, Royal Yachting Association and Sport England.

Denley King of Poole has also won the National Gold Award for the second time in five years.

The Consignia-sponsored award is made to building consultants who have provided the best professional services during the year.

Partner Tom Denley said the award proved the firm was "a market leader".
