THE man who was killed in a car accident in Kinson on Thursday has been named as 20-year-old Nicholas Stone.

Mr Stone, of Keeble Crescent, Kinson, was the front seat passenger in a Ford Escort. He died from his injuries at Poole Hospital following the crash which happened in New Road, West Parley.

The male driver of the Escort, also from the Kinson area, and the elderly female driver of a Vauxhall Astra saloon were both seriously injured and taken to Poole Hospital and the Royal Bournemouth Hospital respectively.

The incident began at 11.14am when police officers on a routine patrol in Kinson asked for the driver of the Escort to stop.

The driver failed to stop in Kinson Park Road, close to the junction of Markham Avenue, Northbourne, and sped away.

Two minutes later police officers were called to the accident in New Road between the Escort and Astra.

Dorset Police have emphasised that the Escort was not being pursued by police officers prior to the collision. A police spokesman added: "The police at no time during this particular incident had any interest in the passenger sadly killed in the collision."

Collision investigators not only want to hear from witnesses who saw the crash but also anyone who saw the Escort in Kinson Park Road.

Witnesses are asked to ring officers at the road policing unit on 01202 226038 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
