BRIAN O'Donnell experienced his second successive victory in charge of Poole Town with an odd goal in three victory over Lymington Town at Tatnam Farm, but the former Poppies boss was far from happy with his side, writes Andy Starmore.

"I don't think my players are fit enough and we will improve on that," said O'Donnell.

"We've got a very big pitch here and you have to be fit to play on it.

"We shall be stepping up the training because that performance was pretty dire to be honest.

"We started off half asleep and I expect a lot better than that, and I've told the players that we will be a lot better.

"It was good to get the three points but that was a very disappointing display and only Neil Spalding could hold his head up after the game."

The visitors took the lead with a first half penalty and on the hour mark it got worse for the Dolphins as striker Jamie Holland was given a straight red card for a foul.

With just five minutes remaining 10-man Poole were still a goal down when substitute Mike McDonnell raced on to a through ball and blasted a well struck effort from the edge of the penalty area to level matters.

In the final minute of the match Spalding, who made an outstanding debut in the mid-week win at Amesbury and was once again Poole's best player, was brought down inside the Lymington penalty area and Martin Jones thumped home the resultant spot kick to give the Dolphins all three points.

Dolphins: Spillane, Wardle (Avery 80), Pratt, Spalding, Gater, White, Holland, Lovell (Jones 70), Omoto (McDonnell 60), Elmes, Bailey-Pearce.

Poole Town travel to leaders East Cowes Vics tomorrow (January 15) night for a league fixture (kick off 7.30pm). Squad is as above with Woods added and Omoto taken out.
