Alex Pike saw Wimborne Town secure their first win of the season at Blackfield and Langley before admitting: "We were awful".
Two goals from Mark Dancer inside nine first-half minutes earned the Magpies the points, although Pike was far from happy with the performance.
He said: "We haven't started the season at all well and without being disrespectful to the teams we have got to play, it's just as well we haven't got a hard start.
"We've got a few injuries and a few new signings and hopefully by the time we play the stronger sides in the league we will have gelled together."
Wimborne included new signing Lee Bradford from Salisbury.
Wimborne Town: Frank, Scott Cannie, Roast, Bradford, White, Gill (Moxam, 70), Barham, Sturgess (P Manning, 75), Dancer, Lovell, Stuart Cannie (L Manning, 70).
