A formal protest has been lodged by Henstridge with the Nationwide Sun Awnings Dorset Cricket League following their tied match with Studland in Division One of the Sunday Section.

With leaders Colehill unable to play at Ellingham because the ground was unfit, second-placed Henstridge were anxious to try and close the gap by picking up points at Studland. But their hopes were dashed when they managed only 14 points from a tie and now, with two matches left, Colehill are almost certain to do the double of winning both the Sunday Division One and the Saturday Premier Division.

Studland lost both openers at five but then Brian Benjafield (42) and John Powell (98) put on 94 and with Lee Hopkins hitting an unbeaten 20, they reached 218-8, Andy Dike claiming 4-59. Henstridge skipper Paul Travers led the scoring with a well struck 104 and his main support came from John Fryer (34 no).

Their cause looked lost at 189-7 but then Neil Adlem (13 no) and John Graziano (19 no) levelled the scores with a ball to go. Henstridge maintain that a bye was run off the last ball which was signalled by the umpire but the score sheet shows that they finished on 218-7.

The only other Division One match played was at Corfe Mullen where the home side restricted Poole Old Grammarians and Poole to 159-9 with Gus Cameron (46) and Nick Williams (37) top scorers. Opener Colin Lewis followed his 3-27 by hitting 59 but it was an unbeaten fifth wicket stand of 50 between Neil Walpole (35 no) and Nigel Stannard (23 no) which ensured the home side's six-wicket win off 38 overs.

In Division Two neither of the top two teams were able to play which means that leaders Blandford are strong favourites to win the title ahead of Kingston Lacy. Wayfarers wished that they hadn't played at Dolman's Farm after slumping from 56-1 to 115 all out. Phil Williams (33) and Chris Wyatt (22) scored their early runs before they fell apart against Mark James (3-19) and Malcolm Slade (4-35). Steve Prior (34) and Gary King (29 no) set up St Georges' four-wicket win in the 33rd over.
