ACCOMPLISHED water babe, 13-year-old Leanne Studley of Easton, who is a pupil at the Royal Manor School and swims with the Tornadoes, is adding to her collection of cups, trophies and other awards at local and county level.

Swimming in Division 2 at the Inter Divisional Counties Competition held at Sheffield, she won gold in her age group.

And the team did so well, coming 3rd overall, that they gained the junior girls' cup and were promoted to Division 1.

Last month Leanne was captain of the junior girls' team, taking part in the English Schools' Swimming Association event.

It involved teams from Dorset, Hampshire, East and West Sussex, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Wight.

It was held on the Isle of Man and the team won the front crawl relay, came second in the medley relay and Leanne gained fourth place in the 100m front crawl.

She started swimming at Weymouth pool when she was four years old, then joined the Dolphins ASC where she was champion in her age group, breaking all club records by the time she was 10.

She moved to the Tornadoes ASC, where she has recently broken her age group records in the 100m freestyle, 50m butterfly and 100m backstroke.

She has swum three times for the county squad and has gained her county colours.

Her parents, Terry and Heather Studley, have always helped out at the clubs when needed.

Training hard towards being chosen for the English squad, Leanne has her sights set on future Olympics.
