SHAFTESBURY Football Club has taken the steps to provide a junior squad with a free open coaching day.

The session marks the launch of the Junior Rockies and will be followed up with regular Saturday morning sessions in the New Year.

Neil Coates, Players Manager for Shaftesbury Town, said: "This is the start of great things for the young people of Shaftesbury with the aim being that next season will be the first where we offer a series of junior teams from under 12s right up to under 18s."

The session on Saturday is open to boys and girls and is being run in two different age ranges.

From 10am to 11am six to nine-year-olds are invited to attend and from 11am to noon it's the turn of 10 plus to come along.

Louise Treacher, sports development officer for North Dorset council said: "These sessions are just a taster of what is to come."

Those interested should turn up at the appropriate time with kit and boots.
