AMBITIOUS Wessex League Brockenhurst have failed with an audacious bid to sign Cherries winger Justin Keeler in time for their FA Vase clash at Biggles-wade Town, reports Karenza Morton.

The Badgers were keen to secure Keeler's services on a one-off loan basis for their third round showdown against the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division outfit a week today.

But the move was scuppered after it was discovered the 22-year-old would have to remain at Grigg Lane for a minimum of a month and could not be recalled by Cherries boss Sean O'Driscoll in that time.

Keeler has just returned to Dean Court after spending the last three months on loan at Dr Martens League Premier Division outfit Dorchester Town.

And O'Driscoll wants to have Keeler close at hand to keep an eye on the former Christchurch man's progress. Brock assistant manager Chris Collinge said: "When I spoke to Sean, he said he was happy to allow Justin to come to us on a week-to-week basis.

"He said it would do Justin the world of good to get some games under his belt and we had virtually sealed the deal.

"But then we found out that if Justin came to us, he would have to stay for a month and they would not be able to recall him as we would effectively take over Justin's contract for the month.

"Sean said that if that was the case he couldn't really loan him out because he needs Justin playing in the reserves."
