Jermain Defoe stamped his class all over Wycombe Wanderers as Cherries recorded their third away win of the season at Adams Park this afternoon.

The young striker, who is on loan from West Ham, netted a sensational second-half goal to give Cherries a two-goal lead.

Defoe also went close on three other occasions but was denied by a superb save from Wycombe goalkeeper Martin Taylor.

It was Defoe's fifth goal in four games since joining Cherries from the Hammers at the end of October.

However, he was not the only star and his effort was sandwiched between two goals from Carl Fletcher either side of half time.

In the Premiership, a late Patrick Vieira goal broke Saints hearts and resistance and Arsenal's three game goal-less drought to boot with a late winner for the Gunners at Highbury this afternoon.

Final score Wycombe Wanderers 0 - AFC Bournemouth 3
