WRAPPING Christmas presents for fellow shoppers is probably the last thing on most people's minds.

But the Julia Perks Foundation has teamed up with Debenhams to urge members of the public to do exactly that.

The department store will provide a wrapping service station on every Saturday in the run up to the big day and is asking for donations towards Julia's House, the hospice for Dorset's sick children.

Julie Midson, Debenhams' customer services advisor, said: "We decided to help Julia Perks because I read about it in the Daily Echo and a lot of people think it is a very worthwhile cause.

"We support a charity every year and if this is a success we would like to see the link continue."

But the charity, which now has a site earmarked for the project, desperately needs volunteers to help out.

Mike Wise, the charity's founder chairman, said: "Julia's House was thrilled that Debenhams at Bournemouth were prepared to allow the proceeds from their Saturday Christmas wrapping service to go towards building the hospice for Dorset's sick children."
