LYMINGTON and New Milton will blood new signing Danny Holmes as they line-up against local rivals Poppies at Victoria Park in the Jewson Wessex League tomorrow.

Holmes, signed this week from Poole Town, goes straight into the squad after impressing for Linnets reserves against Christchurch on Wednesday.

Linnets boss Derek Binns expects the former Farnborough Town man to make a big impact at Fawcetts Field.

Binns said: "Danny did very well against Christchurch and he'll come into centre midfield. Although that's not an area we've been particularly lacking this year, he is a player with a lot of pedigree."

For Poppies, the clash is the third time in three weeks that they have faced one of the top four league teams.

Manager Brian O'Donnell insists his side remain unfazed by the visit of Linnets.

He said: "We've only been outplayed once this season and that was against Totton. We don't fear Lymington, they're there for the taking. We're a better side than last season and in August, I thought we could be capable of a top six place.

"A lot of our players are under 20 and playing their first season in the Wessex League. The top teams are the top teams because they don't make the same silly mistakes that have cost us matches. We just need experience."

l Christchurch will finally unveil new signing Neil Linpow from Swanage Town and Herston against struggling Fareham in the Wessex League at Hurn Bridge.

Ex-Portsmouth trainee Linpow put pen to paper on Wednesday after weeks of spe-culation and goes straight into the squad.

Manager Colin Williams said: "Neil's a talented boy who's been with a pro club and had a lot of good habits instilled in him. He's keen, wants to learn and that's the kind of player I want to work with."

l Brockenhurst will have one eye on their FA Vase clash with Biggleswade next Saturday as they line-up against Whit-church at Grigg Lane in the Wessex League tomorrow.

Brock have not had a game since their 6-2 demolition by Wimborne a fortnight ago and assistant manager Chris Collinge is praying the weather is kind to his side.

He said: "Having two weeks off before such an important match is a bit of a nightmare. We'll be in a lot of trouble if it's called off tomorrow or Tuesday. You can train hard but when you come on for that first half, it takes a while to get into the swing of things again. We need to play so that we're ready for Biggleswade."
