A NEW Forest sand and gravel quarry has won a top award in a national health and safety competition.
Hanson's quarry at Ibsley near Ringwood has been named as a runner-up in the small quarries' section of the event, run by the Quarry Products Association, the industry's trade body.
Quarry manager Alan Sheppard said: "We are a very small site with just six people working here but health and safety is very important to us and everyone in the team has played a large part in helping to achieve this award."
