The champagne corks should be popping up at office of Cartel Records on Monday. Toploader's funky Dancing In The Moonlight has been gaining radio play all over the place over the last few weeks - and who else should be responsible for the irresistible club mix of the track, released on Monday, than one Bob Povey.

With hopes high for the single to go top five next Sunday, Bob's mix will be booming out of every sound system from Exeter to Inverness. Just the latest remix in a whole string of new 12 inch and compilation releases from Cartel, 2001 is all poised to be a big year for the Lansdowne-based label.

* The south's finest celebration of the sixties, Shake Your Mini, finishes a sucessful run of sell-out nights in 2000 on Saturday. The night of psyche, beat, mod and soul will feature residents Jon Bartstow and Tony Allen - plus guest Paul Summers - and promises to reach the era no other nights can reach. But fans rest assured: SYM returns afresh in January 2000.

* Maison Profonde continues in its rich vein of quality music this Saturday with an appearance from SoulSonic's Stuart Patterson. He has been resident at this weekly shindig at London's Subterrania for a number of years now, and with its reputation of quality house and garage DJ's gracing the night, such as Cevin Fischer, Terry Farley and Kerri Chandler, it also guests at various clubs around the capital such as Home and The End. Stuart also mixed the club's debut album, SoulSonic Volume 1, which was released back in April. As usual, resident Cliff Lay and percussionist Daddy Funk will be watching over the proceedings.
