WIMBORNE have been rewarded with a home tie against Taunton in the Intermediate Cup fourth round on Saturday, December 2.

The Leigh Park-based outfit, who came through a nail-biting 13-5 win over Bicester in the previous round, now face another tough test against a side who finished second-bottom in South West Division Two West last season.

Indeed, the draw gives Wimborne a great opportunity to progress further in a competition in which Dorset rivals Dorchester reached the semi-finals last season.

Taunton defeated Ivybridge 25-21 in the previous round as they also bid to reach the Twickenham final.

Oakmeadians, currently second and unbeaten in Dorset and Wiltshire Division One, entertain Tewkesbury, from Gloucester Division Two, in the Tetley's Bitter Vase fourth round on December 2.

Tewkesbury, who squeezed past Hucclecote 13-10 after extra time in the third round, have won three out of their four league games this term.

Blandford, unbeaten in the league and challenging for the Dorset and Wiltshire Division Two South title, are at home to Old Cryptians or West-bury-on-Severn in the fourth round.

The two sides - both mid-table in Gloucester Division One - meet in their re-arranged third round clash tomorrow after the original staging was washed out.

Fordingbridge, who are fourth in Hampshire Two, are away to Haselmere in the fourth round.

Bournemouth and Wimborne go head-to-head at Leigh Park tomorrow (2.30pm) when two precious Southern Counties South points are up for grabs.

Wimborne have named the same 15 players who powered them to Inter-mediate Cup third round success over Bicester on the same ground last week.

And Bournemouth will line up with a young side who are also eagerly awaiting taking the field for the local derby.

Both sides have made stuttering starts to their English Clubs' Cham-pionship campaigns and have won only three out of 10 matches between them.

Wimborne have the slightly better record in that they have won two games out of five, while the Chapel Gate-based outfit have only one lea-gue victory to their name this term.

A win for Wimborne could possibly propel them into the top four in the table. Two points for Bournemouth would ease their relegation worries as the only team below them are Sherborne, who have lost all five of their matches so far.

A big crowd is expected at Leigh Park and spectators have been ad-vised to arrive early by the Wimborne outfit.
