TO the outside world, 40-year-old Andy Stitzer (Steve Carell) has achieved many things with his life so far. He has an easy, well-paid job stamping invoices at an electronics superstore, and he owns a nice apartment filled with a prized collection of comic books.

He is surrounded by friends who love him for his ability to see and bring out the best in other people.
However, there is just one thing missing from Andy's life: he's never had sex.
He is not particularly bothered but his colleagues at the superstore are determined to help Andy take the plunge. Despite their best efforts to set Andy up with a beautiful bed-mate, Andy remains a bachelor until he falls madly in love with 40-year-old mother of three Trish (Catherine Keener).
At last, it seems as if Andy will enjoy his first taste of carnal pleasure, until it emerges that the new lovebirds have forged their relationship on the basis of no sex.
