THE Echo recently featured a welcome campaign by pharmacists to help combat bowel cancer ‘Pharmacists lead new health awareness bid’, (April 16).
But how many of your readers are aware of the NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme?
I recently took a test that gave a positive result.
Within two weeks I had had a colonoscopy, during which a large polyp was removed, and a CT scan.
I may well have avoided bowel cancer in the future by this procedure.
Dorset County Hospital may have its problems, but I have nothing but praise for the way in which I was treated by all of the bowel cancer screening team.
The DIY screening kits are available to anyone over the age of 60 by phoning 0800 7076060.
