THE PRINCESS and her attendants have been chosen for this year’s Puddletown Carnival.

Ten-year-old Lucy Mein will take centre stage on the village’s big day on July 10 and will be assisted by Lilly Lamb, eight, and Sian Ferneyhough, 12.

Ollie Fariman, seven, will take on the role of Carnival Prince and 13-year-old Rosie Lamb will be Miss Teenager.

All the youngsters will be on the float that will lead the carnival procession on a fun-packed day of events.

Carnival chairman Damian Lockie said he was impressed with the standards of applicants for the competition and was pleased with the team of youngsters the judging panel had selected to star at the event, which takes place at the recreation ground.

Mr Lockie said preparations were in full swing, for items such as a dog show, marching bands, music, stalls, a fair and more.

Mr Lockie said: “It is all in hand and everything has been booked.”

Mr Lockie says now the organisers were just crossing their fingers for good weather after last year’s event was something of a washout.

There will also be a number of events in the week preceding the carnival, such as a duck race and bingo night.

The carnival raises money for local organisations, groups and good causes.
