THE summer season in Weymouth wouldn’t be complete without a series of spectacular firework displays.

Weymouth’s renowned International Fireworks regularly attract a crowd of up to 20,000 people, so why not join them this summer?

Thousands of people are expected to gather along Weymouth’s seafront again this year to enjoy the displays.

The fireworks are presented by Pain’s Fireworks and fired from a floating platform in Weymouth Bay with tremendous views from all along The Esplanade.

Tourists and locals alike can enjoy the evening entertainment that is provided from 7pm by many seafront attractions, music and performers.

There is also a chance to enter a £500 cash draw for free.

Roger Allen, Weymouth and Portland Borough councillor for culture, tourism and community facilities, described the fireworks as a ‘highlight’ of the town.

He said: “The summer firework nights are always one of the great highlights of the resort’s year.

“It’s a real celebration of fun, excitement and all that’s great about Weymouth’s spectacular summer reason, enjoyed equally by residents and visitors.”

Entry forms for the £500 cash draw can be found in the Dorset Echo or are available on the evening from the draw table in the Alexandra Gardens.

Place your completed form in the competition box between 7pm and 9pm and the draw will be made at 9.20pm shortly before the fireworks begin.

This year’s firework nights are Monday 2, 9, 23 and 30 August at 9.30pm.

Another firework night not to be missed is on Weymouth Carnival Day on Wednesday, August 18.
