MUSICIANS have teed off the preparations for the Ryder Cup by releasing a Golfers’ Rap.

They have tuned up for the Europe-USA tournament in South Wales which starts today by recording the golf-themed rap track.

Singer Ysanne Carniss-Usherwood, from Weymouth, and rapper Nick Cameron have recorded the song under the name Zanzclan.

They have also shot a video at Came Down Golf Club, dubbed the home of the Ryder Cup, with Weymouth-based Ryder Cup expert Peter Fry and Claire Yallop and Rachel Storey from Julie Storey’s Pzazz dancers.

The aim is also to encourage young people to take up golf as well as support the European team in the Ryder Cup.

Ysanne, 36, of Martello Mews, Weymouth, said: “Golf is considered a bit of an elitist sport for older people.

“We wanted to make it more approachable for younger people, and to show that some young people do play.”

The Ryder Cup will take place at the Celtic Manor in South Wales until Sunday.

Student Nick, 21, who is a neighbour of Ysanne and plays golf, said: “Everyone who has heard it loves it, old and young alike.

“It was played to staff at Celtic Manor and they thought it had to be a hit.”

Ysanne wrote the song, which contains some raunchy lyrics, a few years ago but revived it for the Ryder Cup.

Author Peter Fry has written a book about Ryder Cup founder Samuel Ryder’s links with the Came Down Golf Club.

Ysanne said the idea came about when she stayed with her sister Nerissa, who lives near Cardiff.

Ysanne recorded the song with the help of Chris Coombs at Fuzzy Studios in Weymouth.

Others involved in recording the rap and making the video included Ysanne’s neighbour Don Hunt, Chris Ewan, Gina Oakley, Julie Storey, Mike Hallett, Ric Green and Tom Cheater.
