ARMY wife Charlotte Auckland from Weymouth is on the march for the hit parade with a charity single.

She is among nine wives, girlfriends and partners in Singing for Soldiers who have just released a track called The Promise.

The song is about the promises a wife or girlfriend makes when their loved ones are away from home.

Charlotte, 25, of Wey-mouth, said: “I’m really excited. Everything has gone brilliantly with the single and it sounds fabulous.

“Our producers were so talented and really knew what they were doing in the studio.

“When I recorded my part I was so scared but once I got into it I was so relaxed and sang my little heart out.

“We just need everyone to go out and buy the single now and get as much support as possible.”

The single was released yesterday after a launch party last week.

Charlotte got involved in the project through her friendship with the other wives and girlfriends.

Her partner Corporal Gary Hull is in the Queen’s Royal Hussars. The pair met when he was stationed at Bovington Army base and she was working in the Clouds Hill pub.

Charlotte lost her voice just days before the women were due to sing at the single launch party on October 15.

She said: “I was so worried I wouldn’t be able to sing but I went to the doctor and got a miracle spray and I managed to get my voice back.

“We sang in front of 100 soldiers and their families.”

The song was written by one of the wives, Stacey Fisher, and all the money raised will go to charities Afghan Heroes and Macmillian Cancer Support.

The women performed at several festivals in Germany over the summer and said that the reaction people have given them has been fantastic.

For the single launch the women had a 1940s-style makeover and posed next to a red London Bus.

The single and charity wristbands can be ordered from the Singing for Soldiers website.

Plans for an Army wives calendar for 2011 had to be postponed earlier this month because there weren’t enough people but the group is hoping to have one for 2012.
