THIRD-PLACED Purton Redhouse kept in touch with the Wiltshire League Premier Division pace-setters after winning 3-0 at Wilton Town.

Following a goalless opening 45 minutes, a brace from James Pringle and a 20-yard effort from Craig Hogg sealed the points for the visitors.

Purton boss Stef Kuczynski said: “We did have a few missing, but the lads that came in did well and we played some decent stuff at times, and a win is a win.”

Wroughton were edged out 1-0 by Southbrook after the hosts scored the only goal of the game midway through the second half, defender Sam Giles taking the plaudits with a long-range effort.

AFC NPower consolidated their position in the top half of the table with a crushing 6-0 victory at Moredon Cheney.

Steve Shaw smashed in a hat-trick and there were further goals for Paul O’Connell, Nigel Baker and player-manager Gary Donnelly.

Blyskawica found it tough going at Corsham as the home side ran out 4-2 winners, with Matt Windle, Simon Grey, James Lye and Jamie Stone on the scoresheet.

League leaders Calne Town had their advantage at the top cut to just two points after they could only manage a 2-2 draw at home to Marlborough Town.

Calne initially took the lead through Steve Healey’s free kick before Marlborough player-boss Doug Imrie equalised from 20 yards shortly before the interval.

Midway through the second period Arran Cordozo restored the visitors’ lead, but Mark Dolman saved Calne’s blushes in the final minute.

Elsewhere, FC Chippenham Youth were held to a 1-1 draw at Chalke Valley after taking an early lead.

A free-kick was converted by Billy Bronsdon in the second half to earn the home side a deserved point.

In Division One, Pembroke edged closer to game-less FC Sanford and Ludgershall Sports by thrashing Swindon Irons 6-2.

Meanwhile, Byron Wanderers kept the top teams in their sights with a 5-2 victory over Intel.

At the other end of the table, Marlborough Town Reserves and Lower Stratton shared the points in a 1-1 draw.

Madames beat Malmesbury Vics Reserves 6-2 and Ashton Keynes were 5-2 winners against visiting Swindon NALGO.
