Charlton Down

  • BROWNIES alert!

Sadly, the Charlton Down Brownies are closing for the time being.

This is due to the pressure of work combined with a relatively early 5pm start for the leaders.

Is there anyone out there who would like to lead a Brownie unit in the area?

Support and training are available and the start time could be set back if that was of any help.

It is normally being run on a Tuesday for a couple of hours and one would need to set aside a bit of time for preparation.

At the moment other neighbouring Brownie groups are taking in children as and when they can.

If you feel leading a local Brownie unit may be for you, don’t delay to make further enquiries, it can be a lot of fun!

Judy Thompson from Charminster Brownies and Guides is your point of contact, she can be phoned on 01305 263783 or e-mailed on Richardthompson@fromewhitfield.fsnet.co.uk.

  • BARNARDO’S are managing the Piddle Valley Children’s Centre on behalf of the Dorset County Council.

The children’s centre has some impending free of charge activities in the Village Hall coming up!

On Monday, December 13 and December 20 there will be a Stay and Play afternoon from 1:30pm – 3pm.

Their aim is to help all children up until the age of five and their parents to develop through fun and educational play.

They also offer training courses and advice on various subjects, for example financial or work related.

A QUIZ Night is being held in The Giant Inn on Sunday, December 19.

You have the option to book a special “quiz meal” to guarantee a table or just turn up to take part in the quiz.

Quiz entry is £ 1 and, as anyone who has taken part in the past, they are always excellent fun and very well attended!

For more information call The Giant Inn on 01300 341441.
