A man who robbed a woman in Dorchester has been told a prison sentence is ‘inevitable’.

Nathan James Jones, aged 20, of School Hill, Chickerell, admitting robbing Magdalena Rycak of £50 cash on February 8.

Jones denied two charges of attempting to rob Mohammed Abdul Shahid and Jamal Uddin on the same date.

Desmond Duffy, prosecuting, told Dorchester Crown Court that the pleas were acceptable to the Crown Prosecution Service and it would not be seeking a trial on the attempted robbery charges.

The case was adjourned for a pre-sentence report and a psychiatric report to be prepared.

Jones was remanded in custody and will return to court to be sentenced on June 10.

Judge Roger Jarvis told the defendant: “You have made an admission to what I know you appreciate is a very serious offence.

“There is an inevitable prospect of a lengthy period of imprisonment by way of punishment.”
