A MAN was due to appear in court today charged with murder following a stabbing in Boscombe.

Police said they charged 49-year-old Mark Haylock, of no fixed abode, on Saturday night.

He was due to appear at Bournemouth Magistrates Court.

Detectives also said that a 39-year-old man had been released on bail, while a 40-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman were released without charge.

Officers have renewed their appeal for witnesses.

The victim, aged in his 20s, suffered serious injuries late on Thursday night and died in the early hours of Friday morning at Royal Bournemouth Hospital. Police were called at 11.06pm on Thursday to the incident in Hawkwood Road near to the junction with Sea Road in Boscombe.

The scene was cordoned off in the aftermath of the incident and on Friday crime officers were carrying out investigations at a property on the back of Roumelia Lane.

Detectives have also been reviewing CCTV footage.

The victim has not yet been formally identified.

At the weekend several bunches of flowers were left on a post at the end of Roumelia Lane.

Detectives are asking any members of the public who were in the vicinity of Sea Road, Roumelia Lane and Hawkwood Road between 10.30pm and 11.15pm on Thursday and may have seen or heard an altercation to come forward.
