OSCAR-WINNER Julian Fellowes will be opening Powerstock’s new cinema when it shows his film Time to Time.

The grand opening of the cinema – made possible by a £3,500 Big Lottery Fund grant – will be on Thursday, May 12.

Adrian Semmence of the Powerstock Village Hall management committee said they were also in the process of developing a website – www. Powerstockcinema.co.uk – and distributing brochures to houses in the villages.

Mr Semmence said: “Powerstock is at the centre of a parish of five small rural villages in West Dorset and the aim of our project is to get the community together to join in more activities.

“We thought a community cinema would help to do that.

“We hope to get the cinema up and running in early May and we’ll be wanting locals to tell us what sort of films they would like us to show.

“Initially we’ll be showing films once a month but our long term aim is to use the facility in different ways.”
