WEYMOUTH will be transformed into a fairytale world this Christmas when Cinderella comes to town.

The unbeatable pantomime rolls into the resort in the middle of december, complete with a great cast and a lot of laughter and fun.

The panto stars former Coronation Street regular Sean Wilson as Dandini as well as Helen Patching as the beautiful Cinders, Richard Munday as the handsome prince, Kirsty Bailey as the Fairy Godmother, comedian Andy Pelos as Buttons and Kevin James and Quinn Patrick as the Ugly Sisters.

Also appearing will be 12 local dancers, who will perform alongside six professional dancers, Mike Carnell, who appeared in Only Fools and Horses and The Brittas Empire, and the former chart-topping Crazy Frog.

Sean Wilson, who will be making his first foray into panto with Cinderella, said: "It will be a great family show.

"When my daughter who's six found out I was going to be in Cinderella she was so excited. And my son, who is eight, thinks the Crazy Frog is the coolest thing ever."

The pantomime is once again being produced by John Spiller, who has been staging hugely successful shows at the Pavilion for the past 10 years.

He says he is delighted to be back and believes that with Cinderella, the venue is on to a winner.

"You can't beat Cinderella, you really can't go wrong with it and we have a great show and a wonderful cast," he says.

"The Pavilion wanted to have a high-profile star in the show and we managed to get Sean, who was in Coronation Street for 20 years and really shone in Strictly Ice Dance, and the Crazy Frog which the kids will know and which we are really pleased about."

However, as added challenge this year comes from the fact that the Lighthouse in Poole and Octagon Theatre in Yeovil are also staging Cinderella this festive season.

But Pavilion manager Colin Worth is adamant that his is the Cinderella that people will flock to see.

"We have the biggest star who is a household name thanks to his stint in the UK's best-loved soap and we also have the best show. In fact, we are so pleased with it this year that we have extended our panto run by a week." he said.

"Also, our audiences are very loyal and I am really looking forward to getting on with the show."

Cinderella is at Weymouth Pavilion from Thursday, December 14 to Wednesday, January 3, 2007. Performance times and ticket prices vary.
