A MAN held in custody charged with stabbing three teenage girls in Bridport was injured in an accident, police said.
Ian Andrew Ruby, 18, from Court Close, Bridport, is believed to have suffered facial injuries and received treatment in Poole General Hospital.
A Dorset Police spokesman said: "We understand he was taken to hospital following an accident. This is purely a prison-related matter."
The spokesman said the police are not investigating the incident.
Ruby is facing three counts of wounding with intent, possessing an offensive weapon and possessing a bladed article relating to an incident on August 23.
A spokesman for the Home Office said: "A prisoner from HMP Dorchester was taken to an outside hospital suffering from facial injuries. He was returned to the prison 48 hours later."
Ruby is being held on remand until his next court appearance, on November 6.
