A RECENT report highlighted the fact that millions of people are being duped when they donate clothing, etc, in door-to-door charity bag collections.
Seemingly only 30 per cent of items donated will actually be sold in our High Street shops, most are sold abroad for private profit.
The article goes on quoting various configurations and statistics, but clearly whatever they are, the fact that if this is indeed correct, for every 100 bags collected, only 30 are likely to be used as one would expect.
Maybe next time I donate, I will carry to whichever charity shop I choose, in the full knowledge that any proceeds will end up in the chosen destination.
