DORSET Wildlife Trust has unveiled a collection of images by amateur photographers for its 2012 calendar.

The calendar, entitled ‘Dorset Moments’, contains photos which have been taken by volunteers and members of Dorset Wildlife Trust (DWT) and then donated to support the county’s wildlife.

Fiona Sansom, supporter development manager, said: “We are indebted to the many amateur photographers who donate their photos to us every year, allowing us to spend more money on our conservation work, so we decided to showcase the very best in our 2012 calendar.”

She added: “We are thrilled with the results and have no doubt that ‘Dorset Moments’ captures the essence of the county and reflects the love for wildlife shared by the people of Dorset.”

Views featured in the calendar include crashing waves at Kimmeridge and orchids at Kingcombe Meadows, as well as close-up views of wildlife in their habitat.

Stewart Canham from Gillingham, who is a DWT member and Chairman of the Trust’s Photographic and Video Group, took some of the images in the calendar.

He says that the Trust are always looking for images for all their publications, but often people don’t send them in as they don’t feel the pictures are good enough.

He said: “I see a lot of very good quality images from all sorts of cameras that would be excellent for DWT to use, so please just send them in, either landscapes or wildlife images.”
