AFRICAN music pioneer Gregg Kofi Brown will be at an event in Dorchester celebrating Black History Month.

He will be appearing with his Osibisa Collective on Saturday, October 29 at the town’s Corn Exchange.

As well as music there will be an appearance by celebrated poet and playwright Dr Edson Burton and the dance group Zubida Movements as well as a live Zumba session.

Also featuring is South African rapper Liryc, who has worked with members of Ladysmith Black Mambazo.

He said: “This is an event which brings people from all cultures and races, to perform for such an audience is a blessing.”

The family friendly event runs from 6pm to 10pm and there will be Caribbean food available as well as a licensed bar.

The evening has been organised by South West Dorset Multicultural Network with support from West Dorset District Council, Dorchester Town Council, Magna Housing, NHS Dorset and Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust.
