On several occasions recently I have heard people discussing the pineapples, which were originally positioned on the Ridgeway and kindly donated by Rotary.
Many could enjoy the welcome to Weymouth and appreciated the skill of local craftsmen.
Now they have been banished to an obscure car park.
I don’t know if Rotary was consulted about the repositioning, but I am certain this is not what was intended, the majority of Weymouth people will never see them again.
I sympathise with those, who think this is entirely the wrong place because we have a similar problem in Portland.
We could have enjoyed passing through the quite impressive columns which are meant to be the gateway to Portland, However, instead they have been erected on waste ground away to the left of the main road, and therefore serve no significant purpose whatsoever.
I think these two wrongs should be put right before the crowds start arriving for the Olympics.
