I REFER to the letter ‘Let us share’ (Your Say, November 15) where the writer talks about the peaceful shared lanes in Germany.
He only mentioned the considerate cyclists, but what about the inconsiderate ones?
Some of my family live in the Netherlands and also in Germany where most of the cyclists adhere to the cycling code.
The inconsiderate cyclists here in Dorset ride like ‘Chris Hoy’ wanabes.
Millions of pounds of tax payers’ money has been spent on the relief road, this includes proper cycle paths.
Two weeks ago I had to take avoiding action on the Dorchester Football Club roundabout not to be in collision with a cyclist who did not use the cycle path provided.
This is also the case on the Preston Beach Road.
I am a motorist who is required to pay road tax, and have MoT and insurance.
I am all for sharing the main roads with both the considerate and inconsiderate cyclists, if they are also taxed and insured and have their bicycles regularly checked for roadworthiness.
