A CHARITY is going to be lighting up lives this Christmas with open-air carol services.

Weldmar Hospicecare Trust will be holding its Light Up a Life event in front of Debenhams in New Bond Street, Weymouth at 6.30pm on Thursday.

Then on Tuesday, December 6 at the same time there will be a second service outside the Joseph Weld Hospice in Herrington Road, Dorchester.

At both events there will be a Christmas tree with thousands of lights on it representing memories of loved ones.

During the service the lights will be switched on.

A spokesman for Weldmar Hospicecare Trust said: “Each light represents treasured memories.

“Everyone is invited to remember their loved ones at this special time and these services have come to mean so much to so many people.”

The carol services have taken place for 15 years in Dorchester and eight in Weymouth.

People can also dedicate lights to people for a donation and forms are available from all Weldmar charity shops, or on line at weld-hospice.org.uk or by telephoning 01305 261800.

All money raised will go to care for patients.
