I REFER to the article about Chafey’s roundabout in Weymouth (Echo, November 22) in which Southill resident Alex Moran is calling for a pedestrian crossing to be installed.
I must totally agree with him on this matter.
It is becoming almost impossible to cross the road at the roundabout and it needs a proper crossing.
Not only do you need to run across that section of road – if you are fit enough to do so – but we have so many idiots driving on our roads in Weymouth that it seems they do not know what their indicator is for.
So, for pedestrians it’s a case of guessing which way the car is going.
We have a lot of senior citizens on our estate who would love to walk into town, mainly in the summer, but are unable to do so because they just can’t get across that section of road.
Next year when the Olympics start the traffic is going to be 10 times worse than it already is on that road and the council needs to get something done for the people of Southill.
So, if there is a councillor or councillors out there in Weymouth with half a brain, get the energy to get off your backsides from your office desks and come up here and see the problems we are having crossing the road.
Act now before its too late and a pedestrian gets seriously injured or even killed crossing that road.
