A Portland mum has thanked the ambulance crew that delivered her baby.

Leanne Mullan, from Fortuneswell, Portland went into labour with her second son Ollie at 2.30am on Thursday, November 10.

She and her mum called South Western Ambulance Trust and ambulance team Martin Chick and Ian Hutchinson arrived to take Leanne to hospital but baby Ollie had other ideas.

The ambulance got to the bus stop near All Saints School when they had to stop.

Leanne, 19, said: “We got to the roundabout and he was delivered.

“Ollie was born at 3.58am. Martin and Ian did an amazing job. I’d like to say a big thank you to them, they were only young, in their 20s.

“They kept saying to me they had done lots of births to reassure me but when we got to hospital they said it was their first one.”

Afterwards Leanne went to Dorset County Hospital to get the cord cut before returning home.

Ollie is a baby brother for Cameron, who is 18 months old.

Leanne said the pair were getting on well.

She said: “Ollie is getting on brilliantly. He’s a really good baby.”

She also wanted to give a special thank you to her mum Joanne.

Ambulance crew Mr Chick and Mr Hutchinson said they had been delighted to help the family and were really happy that both mum and baby were doing well.
