Save the Children’s annual Christmas invitation coffee morning was a very successful event, but tinged with sadness for many.
Our honorary secretary Mrs. Joan Cooknell lost her battle against cancer and the coffee morning had been traditionally held at her family home.
She was a very active member and is sadly missed. Her kindness and her superb baking will long be remembered.
Thank you to everyone who produced and donated goods and raffle prizes, cooked cakes.
The volunteers who gave up their time to sell them. It was a great morning.
If you bought a quiz paper, please remember to return it for January 6.
Thank you to All Saints Secondary School, Wyke Regis and St Andrews, Preston and Broadway Motors for their support and everyone who has supported our shop at Easton, which is run entirely by volunteers.
You have all helped to make life better for children whose lives have been shattered by famine, war and disaster abroad and in the United Kingdom. Please continue your loyal support, best wishes for the coming year.
Bonny Symonds, Branch chairman, Weymouth and Portland
