A WESSEX Water campaign that encouraged people to save thousands of litres of water has won an award.

The Target Twenty initiative involved the company visiting towns throughout its region urging people to save at least 20 litres of water a day. It also saw the launch of a smart phone app which provided top water efficiency tips and a facility that allowed people to report leaks with just a touch of a button.

Customers were provided with a free water saving pack to get started and encouraged to share water saving ideas with others through Twitter and the firm’s customer magazine.

The campaign won Wessex Water the title of marketing initiative of the year at the utility industry achievement awards.

Ian Drury, press office manager, said: “This campaign was about changing customers’ behaviour.”
