A 29-year-old man from Weymouth has been arrested for the burglary of Weymouth Football Club on New Year’s Eve.
The suspect was arrested by officers yesterday and has since been released on police bail until the beginning of February.
The vandalism at the club was suspected to be a ”deliberate attempt” at sabotaging one of the biggest games of the year, claimed the club chairman George Rolls.
The bar and cafe were completely flooded, stock was ruined, the Football nets were ripped down and the match-day footballs were slashed.
But the game against St Albans went ahead due to the generosity of volunteers helping out and local football clubs donating equipment
