Youngster Max Price has suffered another setback in his recovery from a kidney transplant operation.
The three-year-old from Weymouth was rushed into theatre on Monday after doctors discovered a large blood clot blocking the blood flow to his new organ.
Mum Michelle, who was delighted when she got the call earlier this month that Max would be receiving the long-awaited operation, said she and the family are now waiting to see if her boy’s new kidney is going to start working properly.
She said: “He had a scan which showed the blood flow to the kidney was severely compromised.
“They rushed him to surgery and they have removed the blood clot but they are not sure whether the kidney will work or not.
“Afterwards, the surgeon said that these things are not common but they are not unheard of either and sometimes the kidney does pick up and does start to work.”
Michelle said that she feels like this latest setback for her brave little boy Max has cancelled out nearly two weeks of progress in terms of his recovery from the operation.
