A MAN is being quizzed by police after a fuel tanker crashed into a house and a fire was started.

Emergency services are at Folly Lane in Wool where a bungalow has been wrecked.

The lane has been cordoned off and residents have been evacuated.

Police said at 8.40am today numerous calls reported a fuel tanker had crashed into a property and a fire started.

Neighbours told of a great commotion as the tanker ploughed into the property.

People ran up the street shouting for residents to get out of their homes as smoke billowed from the scene.

Mike Fisom ran from his house after being awoken by a neighbour.

He said: "Someone woke me up and I made a run for it. There was smoke everywhere in the street."

A woman who lives at the damaged house was led to safety.

The blaze has now been extinguished and there are no reports of any injuries.

Police said a 51-year-old man from Yeovil has been arrested in Wool on suspicion of attempted murder.
