A FISHERMAN was taken to hospital with a head injury after a late night rescue.
The Belgian boat Custos Deus was fishing off Portland when the 25-year-old crew member suffered 'a nasty cut' to his head.
Portland Coastguard were alerted.
A medic from nearby warship HMS Lancaster boarded the fishing vessel to administer first aid.
Weymouth RNLI All Weather Lifeboat was launched to transport the casualty to Weymouth Harbour when it was decided that he needed hospital treatment.
