I REFER to Coun Howard Legg’s letter ‘Patience please it’s not complete’ (Have Your Say, January 25). We don’t want to wait until it’s completed to form an opinion, we want some input now.

We certainly don’t want to all write in individually to find out what’s going on.

He mentions the Victorian columns relocated at Greenhill and ironically he doesn’t seem to realise they look so fantastic.

It is obvious he should have listened to us, and kept them on the Esplanade in the first place instead of replacing them with those awful motorway type lights that have no empathy with our Georgian frontage.

You can put another thousand lights along the Esplanade and it will still look uninteresting compared with having fairy lights up.

With our fairy lights up something magic happens, maybe it’s the caternary curve of the bay or the Georgian Buildings, all we know is it works, a miracle happens.

With our fairy lights up people would have flooded from all over the world, we were sitting on a goldmine.

Laser beams have been done to death at previous Olympics, let’s be different with our fairy lights.

Can you imagine our neighbours Lyme Regis, for instance, allowing lasers? I don’t think so.

There’s still time let go back to the Weymouth we know, and have our fairy lights back.
