A TWO-DAY course is available for those starting their own business.

The New In Business course, dealing with all the essential aspects of getting started, is being run by WSX Enterprise, the Poole-based not-for-profit company which, until November last year, delivered the Business Link service for Dorset.

In November the Government closed all the Business Link regional operations, putting an end to the popular start-up courses which had been run by Business Link in Dorset.

Matthew Butcher, enterprise manager for WSX, said: “All the statistics show that new business owners who start off with the right training and support have a far better chance of survival.

“Our course is short, condensed and full of the information you need to get going with the minimum of fuss.

“It will also alert you to the key reasons why businesses fail, so that you don’t make the same mistakes.

“The course will be important not just for people who are about to start up or are thinking about it, but also for people who have recently started and realise there is a lot they need to know.”

Topics covered in the course include: writing a business plan, tax and National Insurance, VAT, health and safety, employment law, marketing and advertising, sales techniques, book-keeping and websites.

The first course takes place in Bournemouth on February 23 and 24.
