CHARITY car washers pulled out all the stops to raise more than £1,000 for the Weldmar Hospicecare Trust.

Steve Keogh and Mike Coppinger from Class 1 Valeting were joined by friends as they spent the weekend at Spyglass pub in Weymouth washing cars for charity.

They were washing cars from 9am until it was dark on both days as their £5 service proved popular, with 190 cars taking advantage of the offer.

The car washing team wanted to thank the Spyglass for the use of its car park and for providing a constant supply of water so that all £1,074 raised on the day could go direct to the Weldmar.

There was also special praise for 10-year-old fundraiser Luke Keough, who sold Weldmar wristbands to raise £244.

Steve said he wanted to thank all of those who helped on the day and helped make the event possible.

He said “There are so many people that we would like to thank.

“Firstly a massive thank you to the Spyglass pub for their support throughout.

“I cannot thank Cliff, Johno, Luke Keough, Lyne from Kwik Fit, Kenny, Wayne and Stevo enough for their support with washing the cars.

“And obviously finally I would like to thank everyone who came along with their car and supported this event.”

Community fundraiser for the Weldmar Hospicecare Trust Matt Smith said the fantastic sum raised would help towards the running costs of the charity and its work in providing services to patients and families in their time of need.

He said: “Steve and Mike have been incredible throughout organising this event. They have done everything themselves and they should be incredibly proud.

“On behalf of everyone at Weldmar Hospicecare I would like to thank everyone who was involved in making this event a huge success. This money will make a massive difference and will be used towards patient care throughout north, west and south Dorset.”
