POLICE are appealing for witnesses after three horses – one heavily in foal – were stolen from their field.
An 11-year-old light bay mare, due to foal any day, was taken from a field in Sturminster Newton along with a three-year-old bay gelding and a two-year-old dark bay filly.
The theft occurred near Okeford Hill in Hazlebury Bryan between 5pm on March 29 and 6.30am on March 30.
Officers are investigating the possibility that the horses may have been led through an unlocked gate and into a large transporter.
Police Constable Julie Pearson, of Shaftesbury Police, said: “"I would like to speak with anyone who may have seen a lorry or other large transporter in the area overnight.”
Anyone with information should call Dorset Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
