A BUS carrying 40 passengers was pulled over by police in Weymouth for speeding.

The double-decker was spotted driving at 39mph in a 30mph zone in Littlemoor.

Officers, who were out as part of the Dorset Police campaign, caught a total of 32 drivers exceeding the speed limit in Littlemoor Road during a road safety exercise.

Of these, 22 were in the criteria to attend a Driver Awareness Scheme Course, as they were travelling between 36mph and 42mph.

A Dorset Police spokeswoman said the bus driver was insistent that he continue with the journey as he had passengers on board, but was ticketed by officers.

Almost 3,000 drivers have been caught offending in Dorset so far this year.
