On the Downclose Estate at Wyke, we have had very little improvement or input by council or councillors as they think we’re less important members of society.
We were overcome with emotion when a council garden van pulled up at the end of our road, and bushes were planted along half a long, low wall, some 22 in all.
I thought, as others did, they would return at a later date to finish the whole wall – they have not returned.
It turns out due to teenage trouble they have planted these thorny bushes to stop the youths sitting on this wall, but have only wasted ratepayers’ money – the youths have moved 15 feet and sit on the other end.
Not only is the situation a farce (like a good Carry On film) it is also dangerous, as this path leads to the beach and is a main entrance to the Rodwell Trail.
Dog owners and young children daily pass by and these bushes have thorns up to four inches long.
