West Dorset MP Oliver Letwin has officially opened Bridport’s unique renewable energy centre The Core.

The building, run by local building services company AP Chant showcases all renewable technologies in an interactive experience.

The Renewable Energy division was launched more than five years ago and the company has invested significantly in the renewable market.

The aim of the centre at Gore Cross is to advise businesses, professional bodies, the general public and schools on how to adopt sustainable energy options in their businesses and homes.

Managing director Ashley Chant said he was delighted to show Mr Letwin round the centre.

“With energy costs set to soar and sustainable energy being the topic on everyone’s lips, 2012 appears to be the ideal time to be considering our carbon footprint and looking for new ways to power our homes,” he said.

“Our specialist team are constantly exploring and developing solutions in other key energy areas.”

The Core also houses two hi-tech conference rooms for use by businesses.
