The streamlining of our seafront and other areas in Weymouth and Portland that will feature in the TV cameras and be shown on our screens during the Olympics, is so deceiving to those living outside of this area.
It will give a false impression of our part of Dorset.
Those who will visit from other areas of the world will be disgusted at derelict areas, Brewers Quay and harbour walls, shops, toilets needing attention.
There’s also the general lack of toilets, dog mess, litter-strewn streets, potholes in roads and pavements needing repairs.
We were told it would be good for us to home the Olympics here.
It might be if more attention had been paid to those areas and money spent to improve such problems.
Then we residents could be proud of where we live.
Instead, there will be false impressions on TV – and we are suffering the loss of our Georgian seafront, roundabouts and tourist information bureau from the appropriate place, along with many historical parts of our area forever.
Shame on those responsible for doing so to those of us living here. We deserve better.
